The conversation surrounding AI regulation extends far beyond the borders of the EU and US. Countries across the globe are actively grappling with the need to establish frameworks that promote responsible AI development and deployment.

China, a major player in the AI race, has adopted a more nationalistic approach to AI regulation. Its "New Generation AI Development Plan," released in 2017, outlines ambitious goals for domestic AI development while emphasizing ethical considerations. Additionally, China is working on establishing AI standards and certification processes.

Canada presents another noteworthy example. The Canadian government introduced the Artificial Intelligence and Data Act (AIDA) in June 2022. This legislation focuses on promoting fairness, accountability, and transparency in the development and deployment of AI systems. AIDA complements existing federal and provincial privacy laws that apply to AI systems handling personal data.

These are just a few examples of the ongoing global conversation on AI regulation. As AI technology continues to evolve and permeate various sectors, it's increasingly likely that international collaboration will be crucial in establishing common ground for responsible AI development and deployment on a global scale.
